Happy New Year. Here is a look back at Jaw Brew's 2019/2020.

WELL… that was certainly an interesting year. Here is a quick look back at the year,

END OF 2019:

The Jaw Brew Pub was born! Founder Mark Hazell was feeling optimistic about the local pub and brewery. Locals from all over Glasgow visited the pub and were able to learn more about the Hazell family and enjoy the Jaw Brew range. The excitement of a local craft brewery soon spread in the area and the pub was packed day and night.

BEGINNING OF 2020:

Jaw Brew launched a new website and began engaging with their local customers online. With the ongoing success of the Jaw Brew brand, the Hazell’s began to think about the future of Jaw Brew and more ways to become a fully circular brewery.

MARCH 2020:

Covid-19 reaches the UK and businesses go into lockdown. Jaw Brew goes into lockdown and offers front line workers free beer.

SUMMER 2020:

Jaw Brew set up socially distanced seating and continue to serve their customers with a close eye on new legislation. Wearing a mask becomes the new norm. The team slowly become attached to their masks!

The entire Hazell family begin to renovate and build their brewery in Milngavie. The team begins brainstorming how they are going to run brewery tours in 2021 for their customers.

SEP NOV 2020:

Sales are pushed online and the Hazell’s launch a new Bardowie Gin range. Both Jaw Brew and Bardowie Gin re-vamp their websites and push online sales. Sales are slow and steady but many locals and loyal customers from overseas return to stock up for Christmas.

Jaw Brew turns their brewery into a cafe and offers customers delicious coffee and cake.

DEC 2020:

Jaw Brew sales rise quickly and the team launch zoom events for community groups and businesses. Mark and Alison were able to flaunt their brewing knowledge and enjoy a fun event with their friends, family and customers. The zoom events are a huge hit. People were able to enjoy Jaw Brew beer and Bardowie Gin from the comfort of their own homes and learn how to best serve them! The events gave people something to put in their diaries to keep the morale up over the winter months. They intend to continue hosting these events for businesses around Glasgow.

2021:

Businesses are once again in lockdown. Jaw Brew has survived 2020 and are feeling optimistic about the future of the brewery.

Jaw Brew is the only craft brewery in East Dunbartonshire and the Hazell’s intend to become the go-to spot for locals to buy beer, attend brewery tours, events and try out the Bardowie Gin range.

Without the support of friends, family, and customers the Jaw Brew team would not have made it through. We want to thank every single one of you who have bought our beer and gin. Our vision for the near future is to become a fully circular brewery. We welcome anyone to help us with this objective and look forward to seeing all your friendly faces soon!

Please continue enjoying our beer and gin ! ;)

Cheers!

The Hazell Family.

Things are looking up... Jaw Brew Winter Beer!

Mark Hazell’s love for home brewing began long before Jaw Brew was founded but building the business enabled him to show off his brewing abilities and craft beer knowledge. His wife Alison Hazell and son’s are now all involved in the business. Jaw Brew hopes to become a fully circular brewery in the near future. They are certainly on the right path after having introduced a sustainable beer earlier last year called Hardtack. Customers in Milngavie and further afield have shown their admiration for the Hazell family and the Jaw Brew brand and continue to support their endeavors to develop Jaw Brew into a fully sustainable brewery.

2020 arrived and things changed for Jaw brew. The pandemic this year re-shaped the team’s entire strategy. Sales had to be pushed online due to the closure of the Jaw Brew pub and the launch of new brews was brought to a halt. With government regulations changing every other week, the team tried to stay pro-active and plan for the months ahead. Thanks to the family’s support network and Jaw Brew’s loyal customers in Glasgow, Jaw Brew has pulled through and managed to survive through this craziness. This time has highlighted the vulnerabilities of all small businesses and the importance of friends and family.

We are now approaching the end of 2020 (thank god!) and things are really looking up for the team. Jaw Brew beers are flying off the shelves with steady off-trade sales in Milngavie with locals and both overseas customers stocking up for the season.

With days jam-packed already with brewing, tastings, zoom events, shipping, and team meetings, founder Mark and his son couldn’t resist brewing up a Jaw Brew Winter Beer! Mark was keen to make his local customers feel more festive even if they are stuck at home. The winter beer is available in ‘bag and boxes’ to collect from the Milngavie pub. Mixed four-pack of beers are also available online or at the pub. These make for the perfect Christmas gift. Check out some photos below!
